I woke up today with the song "When Irish eyes are smiling".  Over and over again.  It's been about 7 hours and it won't stop.....  HELP ME!  Anyone please give me another song!!

The logo is finally done!!!

Finding a logo is really hard work!  I had no idea how many weeks it would take me to decide on one but here it is.  It was worth the countless revisions and hard work because I love it!

This cake was made for a best friend who wanted to surprise her husband for their anniversary.  Inspired by a photo she sent me, and in honor of their special day, I'm calling it the anniversary cake.  It's perfect, full of delicious chocolate layers of love (other flavors available).

VIKING HAS ARRIVED!!!

It's been a few weeks since my little oven fire (see previous post on blog about fire).  I am extremely happy to say:  "Here it is, my brand new VIKING oven!!!!!!!!!"

Now, on to more important things......  BAKING!

For starters, I have to work on an orange cake recipe for this Saturday.  Oven is right on time!!!  I'll be in the kitchen for the next two days perfecting my recipe so it's rich and moist and delicious!  A new flavor to add to what we currently offer.  After that, I'll be owning up to a challenge that was given to me on facebook to come up with a coconut cake.  I love when customers request something new.  Previous requests led to my Baileys frosting which is now one of our most loved flavors and I was able to come up with a peanut free chocolate cake that was fantastic!!  I'm looking forward to adding a great new coconut concoction to our list.  Keep tuned in for more details....

Valentine's Day Chocolate Mania!

For starters, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL!!

I have been mixing, baking, prepping, coating, frosting and decorating non-stop for two days now!!  WHEW!!!!!!!!  I decided to take a very small mini-break now as I post my thoughts and pictures and then head off to make many deliveries.

Chocolate ruled this Valentine's Day, although, in my world, chocolate always rules!!  How I adore chocolate............  Oops, went off on a tangent....  I'm back.

It was a chocolate extravaganza bake off.  I made chocolate cupcakes, chocolate stout cupcakes, Heath Bar Special cake, and chocolate cake pops (Mickey/Minnie silhouettes)!!  I had a great time making everything for all my clients and I hope they have a great time eating everything all up!!

  

Farm Birthday Cake for Horseback Riding Birthday

I loooooooooooooove making kid's birthday cakes.  They end up being so colorful and happy.  Then I get to see the child's face when I deliver the cake and that's the best part for me!!  

This is my latest creation and I had a great time molding the figurine to look like the birthday girl.  Fondant figures can be tricky as they take a lot of time and tender loving to get them just right.  Sometimes you have to start all over and throw away your first attempt.  The horse was as cute as could be too.  The birthday girl's remark when she saw it was a great big "WOW!!!  I LOVE IT".  That made all my time and hard work worth every second!!  Happy birthday to her and thank you to her mom for letting me be a part of such a great day!!

What's (really) in a name?! Was Shakespeare right?

So was he right or not when it comes to naming a business?  We all know a rose would smell as sweet but with regards to a business, a name can catch attention or not..........

Business has picked up on my end and so I've turned to the next step having decided I want to keep moving forward.  I've been working with a company trying to find a logo for M Cakes Designs.  I find myself at an impasse of sorts because I can't find a logo I like and now it has led me to thinking I want a new name, something more original.  A name that says more about me and what I do with a logo I can stand by indefinitely.  Something that will stay long term......

I invite you, my trusted clients and friends out there, to go on this name/logo journey with me.  I imagine it will take some time to find what feels right but it will be worth it in the end!

If you have any ideas, throw them my way!!  Comments?  You think the current name is fine?  New name shout outs?  Don't hold back.  I'm open to all opinions and want to include you in this process!!  THANK YOU!

Cupcake Pull Apart Cake

I have to say, when I first started this project, I thought it would look great but I never envisioned a little wonderland and that's exactly how I feel about it.  Every time I walk by it, it makes me smile.  I hope it has the same effect on all the children that will tear it apart today!!

That being said, you have to have a lot of patience to make this one!  Every little bug is hand made as are the mushrooms.  You have to let each bug dry before adding additional details such as wings, polka dots, and facial features.  It is very time consuming and challenging!  In the end, very worth it as you get this whole effect that you really are looking at a field.  The only downside, I grew attached to my bugs.  I'll miss you little guys!!  :-(
